Welcome!

The HIV Research Program: We are a clinical research laboratory that works closely with local and international collaborators to understand the pathogenesis of brain injury in the setting of HIV. We use neuropsychological testing, immunological assays, clinical evaluations, genetics and multi-modal brain imaging as our primary research tools.  We are engaged in studies in San Francisco, Thailand, Cambodia, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria and evaluate pediatric, adult and geriatric HIV-infected study participants to achieve these goals. We are dedicated to providing opportunities and mentoring for the next generation of researchers through these studies.

The Over 80 Clinic: Trained in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Neurobehavior, Dr. Valcour has interest in understanding how to achieve optimal outcomes for older patients with cognitive disorders. Clinically, he focuses on the care of those over 80 years of age suffering from cognitive impairment.
